Ontario Building and Fire Codes

The Ontario Building and Fire Codes are a set of rules that specify the standards in construction and fire safety. Buildings and non-permanent building structures must conform to these codes in order to obtain permits and permissions. The purpose of these codes is to protect public health, safety, and general welfare as they relate to the construction and occupancy of buildings.

The building and fire codes are used by professionals in the design and construction industry, including Architects, Engineers, Designers, Home Builders, Contractors, Plumbers, HVAC Technicians, and many others. Even Do-it-yourselfers (DIY) need to follow compliance. Compliance codes tend to be cumbersome, time-consuming, and “analog” (paper document) and suffer from easy access to current revisions.
